Living life in colour
In YOUR day, how many times do you take a PAUSE and just BREATHE?
Just for ONE MINUTE .. ONE MOMENT OF YOUR TIME?
Just doing this for 2 minutes has been shown to reduce your blood pressure and pulse rate and with it levels of adrenaline running through your bloodstream.
IMAGINE …. IN YOUR HAND YOU HAVE A PAINT PALETTE AND A BRUSH.
You have a blank wall in front of you (or a small part of it!) to paint in whatever colour you feel is right for you. But BEFORE you do …..
- PAUSE for a moment.
- Notice how your day FEELS for you RIGHT NOW.
- The day ahead or the day just gone.
- Try to feel with the whole of your being not just your mind.
- What colour would you choose?
I wonder what your reply would be!
I have played this game with many people and even done it for REAL! We have laughed, cried, group hugged, some ran away, some just sat there unable to feel anything. A few created something they found magical.
But ALL of that was OK! However it was for each of them. Even those who were totally stuck.
What amazed me was that for so many it was a jumping off point, enabling them to talk about their ‘day’, expressing their feelings. AND BEING HEARD as they did so. So often using words which expressed colours. Just a little bit of MAGIC hey!

Our physical visual and tactile experiences influence our sense of colour but then so does our emotional touch .. our reactivity to an event, a person, an experience.
Try that too … sensing into how you colour a feeling of ANGER, or even LAUGHTER! And what about LOVE?
May be there will be an array of different colours enter your awareness. That often pops up when we focus on love!
Now pause again for a moment!
When you bring your attention to an experience or emotion, an event or relationship you may (or may not!) get a sense of a colour (or colours). That sense of a colour, may well emerge from a memory but sometimes it just bubbles up from nowhere.
